COHN, Rita J. (Aronson), 104, of Brockton, MA, formerly of Randolph, MA, Bloomfield, CT,and Worcester, MA, entered into eternal rest April 28, 2020, after a brief illness. She was just weeks shy of her 105th birthday. She was the wife of the late Jacob “Jack” Cohn of Worcester MA, and they were married for 36 years before his passing in 1982. She returned to the Hartford area in 1983 to be closer to her family. She moved to Randolph in 2005 and Brockton in 2010.She was born in Hartford, CT, and was the daughter of the late Abraham B. and Celia K. Aronson. She was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford, CT. She leaves a son, Stephen C. Cohn and his wife, Jill, of Randolph, MA, and a daughter, Lynn C. Robertson, and her husband, David, of Lombard, IL. She also leaves a grandson, Adam C. Cohn and his wife Mary of Walpole, MA; a great-granddaughter Eva Cohn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant brother Sidney of Hartford, CT, her sister, Dorothy Zingeser of Bloomfield, CT; her brother Irving L. Aronson of Boca Raton, FL; and her sister Florence Jainchill of Boca Raton, FL. She was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and served as the Royal Matron of Bancroft and Nashoba Valley Courts. She was elected to preside as Grand Royal Matron of the Grand Court of Massachusetts in 1976 and attended many grand court sessions across the country. She was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue of West Hartford, CT. Graveside Services will be private. Due to the COVID-19 virus, a memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 40 Blossom Street, Boston, MA, the American Cancer Society, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
