Rita (Baker) Pisetsky

d. August 21, 2019

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Rita Baker Pisetsky, a vibrant, devoted, very loving wife, mother and special friend, age 79yrs with her daughter Helena and husband Myron at her hospital bedside after the onset of a sudden severe illness. Born in Torrington CT daughter of the late Harry and Jean Baker. The very same summer day that she met the love of her life Myron, Rita told her parents that was the man she would marry. They shared 60 years of devoted marriage. They dated while Rita attended Boston University to become a medical secretary and her husband completed his medical education. Together they moved to Denver Colo while her husband was stationed at an army hospital. Rita was very active in the officers wives club where she helped arrange many dinner dances. While in Colo Rita gave birth to her “Chanukkah baby” daughter Helena Pisetsky of MA. Rita brought an enthusiastic brightness to life. She danced in this life with much vibrancy and energy. Rita has wide recognition as a very graceful, skillful and outstanding ballroom dancer. She has won several prizes in dance competitions. In later years she continued to dance at the West Hartford Center seniors’ weekly dance, where she and her husband made many dear friends. Her favorite dances were Latin dances, especially the Cha-Cha. She enjoyed bringing joy and enthusiasm into daily life from a sweet snack or two, singing a song, or giving a hug. Her smile would light the room when she walked in. Rita was also a skillful oil painter of nature, especially oceans, mountains lakes and streams. She studied at the West Hartford Art League. Rita’s artistic talents showed themselves from a color coordinated bow in her hair, to sparkly patterned yet always practical shoes on her feet. Her clothes were always very bright, colorful often with floral patterns. Rita, like her mother, played the piano. Rita enjoyed playing in a trio with her daughter on the clarinet and her husband on the tenor saxophone. Singing together in harmony was something all three enjoyed on all special family occasions.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Sunday 11:00am at Hartford Mutual Cemetery on Wolcott Rd in East Granby CT.
