It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Robert J Radin 83 of West Hartford CT on December 28, 2024. Born December 19, 1941, he was the second son of Dr. Morris Radin and Cecile Radin, brother of Harley W. Radin, and sister-in-law Evelyn of Washington DC, and nephew Jason C Radin of Irvine California. Dr. Radin was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He was known for his great sense of humor, compassion and love of people and the earth. Dr. Radin earned his B.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in theoretical physics from The George Washington University. While in graduate school , Bob was employed at a number of U.S. Government research laboratories, including Naval Research Laboratory. Following graduate school, he took a postdoctoral Staff Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, where he did research in cell biology. He then commenced a teaching career as university professor in science, physics and mathematics at many institutions including University of Maryland , Boston University, Wentworth Institute and finishing his professional career at the University of Hartford where Dr. Radin was honored with the president’s Outstanding Teachers Award. Throughout his teaching career, his greatest joy and satisfaction came from helping students hoping to transform their self -image from failure to success. Dr. Radin’s home was West Hartford, where he authored “Full Potential—Your Career and Life Planning Workbook”, and “Eco Spasm”, a science fiction novel on humanity’s potential survival from the effects of its damage to the environment. He also had a summer home “Bretton-Scape” for years on Cape Breton NS where he made many life-long friends. There, the environment sparked creativity and he enjoyed writing poetry, hiking with friends and appreciating the majesty of the ocean. Dr. Radin, “(Bob)” left behind dear friends Nune, Alex, Sofie, Jeff, Mark, Gene, Patsy, Bill, Margie and his loving caregiver Sarah. Bob blended his Jewish upbringing and his evolving devotion to Buddhism into a life of compassion and mindfulness. May his journey continue in peace.. “Anicca vata samkhara.
