Robert Lerner

Robert Lerner, 90 years of age, of Tabor Circle, West Hartford, died Monday, January 27, 2025. Born in Catskill, NY on July 13,1934, he was the son of the late Isadore and Margaret Lerner. Bob was predeceased by his wife Gilda, siblings Joan and Martin. He had a wonderful upbringing and was always very active athletically.  He attended Blaire Academy in NJ for his junior and senior years. Bob Enrolled at Boston University and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1956. He met Gilda his freshman year at a card game. She chased him for 3 ½ years until he finally caught her. Two weeks after graduating, they married. Bob was also active in his fraternity (Phi Epsilon Pi). A few months after the wedding, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and Basic training for 16 weeks. He was discharged in February 1958. Returned back to CT with Gilda and joined father-in-law in business. Lebon Press. Became president and remained active in the business until 1994, in which his son Andy took over. Started singing with the Hartford chapter of the barbershop society in the 1960’s and loved every minute of it! Formed a quartet with three close friends-“Good Fortune” and Sang base. The quartet performed for many years. Bob and Gilda joined Tumble Brook Country Club in 1958, their home away from home. He loved the game of golf and had three holes in one. He leaves his son, Andy Lerner and his wife Theresa of Wilmington, DE, Ellen Cyr of West Hartford, five grandchildren: Brett, Billy, Joshua, Trey and Matthew and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Weinstein’s Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his daughter, Ellen, 16 Little Lane, West Hartford on Sunday, following the interment.
