Robert ('Bob') Whitman

Robert (Bob) Whitman, 81 years old, of West Hartford, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly at his home with his wife at his side. He was born in New York, New York. He was a law professor at the University of Connecticut Law School for 50 years. He was a graduate of Baruch College with a degree in accounting. He then received his J.D. from Columbia Law School. He also received his Master’s in Taxation at New York University School of Law. He was the foremost expert on fiduciary accounting in the United States having served as the Reporter for the National Fiduciary Accounting Project. He was also a consultant on the drafting of the Uniform Probate Code. He was married to Edith Whitman for 56 years. He is survived by two children, Miles Whitman of West Hartford; and Mara Whitman and his son-in-law Marc Edrich of West Hartford. He is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Franklin, Samantha, Mallory, and Douglas. Bob was an unbelievably kind and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, Connecticut at 11:00 A.M. Shiva will be at his home on Thursday between 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. and on Friday and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 8 P.M.
