Rosalind ‘Roz’ (Minsky) Bobrow Hahn, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at home with her husband, Howard Hahn, by her side. Roz was born in Kew Gardens, New York on April 30, 1947 and grew up in Lynbrook, New York. She graduated from Valley Stream South High School, class of 1965. She earned her BS in Education from the University of Hartford, class of 1970 and her Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College, Hartford Branch in 1988. Her love of teaching and of Judaism led her to a career of both professional and volunteer leadership positions. These included Chairwoman of Education for Beth El Temple, West Hartford; President, National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Hartford Section; President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Hebrew Home and Hospital, West Hartford and Executive Director of The Lupus Foundation of America, Connecticut Chapter. For her lifetime of commitment and service to significant causes, and to her community, she was awarded the prestigious Hannah G. Solomon - Woman of the Year Award, National Council of Jewish Women, Greater Hartford Section in 1992. Roz’s fondest achievement was her caring concern and years of dedicated service to Loaves & Fishes Ministries, Hartford, CT, where she was a founding member and Charter Member of the Board of Directors. She took great pride in delivering Meals on Wheels for more than twenty years.
Roz is survived by her husband, Howard. Roz and Howard recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Marion Morgenstein; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patty and Loel Weiss; her children, Stephen and Gabby Garschina Bobrow, Rachel and David Steinberg, and Marc and Kim Bobrow, as well as Howard’s children, Jennifer and Kevin Rafferty, and Rachel and Michael Teichberg. Roz was “Nanna” to nine grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Roz is also fondly remembered by many friends, some of whom are from her childhood as well as those from 30 plus to 60 plus year friendships.
Roz was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws and her brother-in-law, Lee Morgenstein, of blessed memory. The family wishes to thank the nurses and volunteers from McLean Hospice Care and Roz’s wonderful caregivers - Alicia Hill, Eloise Walker, Felicia Lee, Opal Greenfield, Marie Montgomery and Colleen Campbell for making her so comfortable in her final days.
The funeral service will take place at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 9:30 AM, followed by interment at Wellwood Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY, with Rabbi James Rosen officiating.
