Roslyn ((Waltman)) Levy

d. January 1, 1970

Roslyn (Waltman) Levy, 93, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of West Hartford, CT and Bloomfield, CT, died peacefully September 5th, with her family at her side. She was the widow of Philip Levy. Born in Hartford, CT, Roz was the daughter of the late David and Matilda (Chesky) Waltman.
Roz graduated from Weaver High School and the Hartford Secretarial School. She worked for years as a legal secretary at several Hartford firms including Ribicoff & Kotkin. Roz was a lifetime member of Hadassah, and was instrumental in organizing her Weaver Class of ‘41 reunions. Roz was a member of the former Cliffside Country Club, Tumble Brook Country Club and Hunters Run in Boynton Beach, FL. She was an avid player and organizer of card and mahjong games. She enjoyed and excelled at those games as well as in tennis and golf. Roz joyously attended every family celebration no matter when or where, and through her cooking, baking and good humor turned any get together into a party. Always energetic, Roz was independent, active, alert and deeply committed to her family and friends right up until this summer when she grew ill.
Roz was the loving wife for 66 years of Phil who she lost in 2009; beloved mother of Harold Levy and his wife Judy of West Hartford, CT, Michael Levy and his wife Suzanne of Farmington, CT and Don Levy and his wife Jane of Albany, NY; cherished grandmother of Ben Levy and his wife Katie, Aaron Levy and his wife Mary, Sara Chin, Kacie (Levy) Stubb and her husband Rick, David Levy, and Alexander Levy; and devoted great-grandmother of Kaitlynn and Kyle Chin, Charlie and Sasha Levy, Jacob and James Levy, and Lewis and ‘another due in September‘ Stubb. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Samantha Levy and her brothers Irving (Chick) and Edward Waltman.
Roz will be profoundly missed by her children and grandchildren as well as by a network of cousins, nieces and nephews with whom she kept in vibrant contact, and by her many friends from across every phase of her rich life. She will be remembered for her unselfish love for and devotion to her family and her friends, her optimistic attitude, and for all the encouragement and kindness she so genuinely gave to all.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, September 8 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby, CT. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at the Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford, CT.
