Samuel Goldring

Samuel Goldring, 93, of West Hartford, died Friday, April 13, 2007 after a short illness. Born April 24, 1913 in Springfield, MA he moved to Hartford in 1928 where he grew up and lived most of his life. He moved to West Hartford in the 1980?s. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930?s. Sam was an infantry Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in France and Germany and he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Hillyer College and received a degree in accounting. During Sam?s career he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, the State of Connecticut, and also taught accounting courses at Hillyer. He also worked as an independent accountant and had many business and personal clients in the Hartford area. Surviving are his sister Rose Brunswick of Hamden; his sister Sylvia Norkin of Bridgeport; niece Barbara Cushen of Hamden; niece Carol Ghent of Trumbull; nephew Max Brunswick of New Haven; nephew Bill Norkin of Somers, NY; and nephew Tom Goldring of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 15th, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford with Rabbi David Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Workmen?s Circle Branch #15 Cemetery, Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
