Samuel Andrew Ziplow

d. June 15, 2021

Samuel Sandy’ Andrew Ziplow, 67 years of age, passed away at 7:30 pm Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Morris Zip’ and Natalie (Ratner) Ziplow. After graduating from Adelphi University, he spent over 30 years working alongside his father at West Hartford Lock. Following his father’s passing, Sandy carried on the family legacy and expanded the business into many new areas, particularly architectural hardware. His greatest passion in life was his family, his community (centered around Bloomfield, Simsbury and New London), and his hobbies. He was an incredibly talented musician (long time member of the Simsbury Community Band), woodworker, and creator. His kind, warm, and generous spirit will forever live in our hearts and our homes. He knew everyone and everyone knew him - he will be deeply missed by more people than any of us will ever know. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Ellyn (Dicker) Ziplow; his daughter Paige; his son, Matthew and wife Virna; his brother, Alan Mendelson and wife Peggy; his brother-in-law Henry Dicker and wife Tracy, as well as a niece, nephews and many beloved cousins and family across the country. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 18th, 2021 at Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT with Rabbi David J. Small and Hazzan Moshe Pinchover officiating. Everyone must bring a mask, as both masks and social distancing are required by the synagogue. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Following the interment, the family will receive the community at their home in Simsbury. Shiva will continue on Sunday, June 20th in New London, CT with calling hours from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and a Minyan (prayer service) at 6:30 pm.
