Shirley H (Korman) Salowitz, 93, of Farmington and formerly West Hartford passed away Tuesday March 10th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
She was the widow of her beloved husband Sidney Salowitz. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Fannie (Libas) Korman.
Shirley grew up in Brooklyn, NY and New Haven, CT and later moved to West Hartford in 1955. She leaves her daughters, Susan and Randi Salowitz, her daughter-in-law Lynn Salowitz, her granddaughter Erica and her husband Marc Tardiff, her great-granddaughter Cora Mae Tardiff, and her devoted brother Jerry Korman.
Shirley also leaves many devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family Makayla and Jeff Lapierre. She was predeceased by her loving son, Mark Salowitz and by her devoted grandson Adam Salowitz and Randi’s longtime partner Michael Lapierre.
Shirley spent over 20 years working as a secretary for the Hartford School System.
She loved her job and was dedicated to the students she served. After her retirement, Shirley and Sid spent many wonderful winters in Delray Beach, FL.
Shirley was a strong, compassionate, and loving person who embraced life. Family meant everything to her, and her greatest pleasure was spending time with them. Two and a half years ago, Shirley became a great-grandmother to Cora Mae, who brought her unbelievable joy and happiness. Shirley was affectionately known as “GG” and relished every moment she spent with Cora. Shirley will be missed by all who knew her but will remain in our hearts forever.

The family wishes to thank Hartford Healthcare Hospice and especially Shirley’s wonderful nurse Kristen.
