Sophie Goldfarb Wein, 93 of Hartford, CT and Boynton Beach, Fl, passed away on December 5th, shortly after her closest family members said farewell to her. She was happiest when with family, and she enjoyed entertaining and making people laugh. She loved dancing and music, singing along (albeit off-key) with favorites Streisand and Sinatra. Sophie also loved fashionable clothing and was always beautifully dressed.
Sophie’s sassy sense of humor brought her many friends everywhere she lived and worked, and she overcame setbacks through her phenomenal willpower, determination, and resilience. She was predeceased by two husbands, Sam Goldfarb and William Wein. Sophie is survived by her greatest loves, her children and granddaughter: Bob Goldfarb and husband Ron Citro of New York; Gail Gitlin and husband Joel of South Windsor; Rachel Peña and husband Eduardo of New York; and Howard Wein and wife Barbara of Boynton Beach, Florida.
Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter Gail at 205 Natsisky Farm Rd South Windsor, CT Saturday, Dec. 8th from 5-8 pm. The family is grateful to the dedicated caregivers who brought Sophie comfort, companionship and much happiness. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimers Association, alz.org.
