Stewart Michael Yontef, 80, of West Hartford, formerly of Orange, CT died peacefully on October 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby, CT August 10, 1943 and grew up in Ansonia where the family had a clothing store called Yontefs. In 1958 the Yontef family moved to Woodbridge and Stewart attended Amity High School and graduated in 1961. Stewart graduated from Boston University with a degree in Business and was a successful realtor and owner of Beazley Company Realtors in Westville, CT. He received many accolades in the Real Estate field over a 40 year career and worked very hard so that he was able to retire at an early age. One of his biggest accomplishments was selling over 1,000 homes during his career. He helped many families find their dream home and owned many rental properties throughout the New Haven area and was well respected in the community.
Stewart was a proud member of the Corvette Club of CT and enjoyed attending events with his 2000 Red Corvette. He also enjoyed investing in stocks and always read the newspaper and watched the news to stay up to date on current events. He was an avid Huskies fan and religiously followed UConn basketball.
Stewart was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and would always say he was a simple man and his greatest joy would be sitting around the dinner table just talking with his family and teaching his grandchildren life lessons. Stewart was a planner and he couldn’t wait to start discussing his annual Water’s Edge summer beach trip. His favorite memories were those spent with family at holiday gatherings like Jewish holidays and Thanksgiving with our family in New York.
Stewart was a strong supporter of Israel and had the opportunity to travel to our homeland for the 50th Anniversary in 1998. Stewart had quite a collection of Judaica and proudly displayed all of his Menorahs.
Stewart is survived by his children, David Yontef and Lori Yontef; grandchildren Lily and Jacob Yontef; brother Paul Yontef; and his longtime partner Linda Leslie.
He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Lillian Yontef and brother Morton Yontef Holliday.
