Suzanne R. (Freedman) Salad, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 5, 2021 at home in West Hartford CT, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on March 23, 1938 to the late Isadore and Bessie (Miller) Freedman and raised in Hartford. Suzanne was always very fond of Weaver High School (class of 1956), reminiscing about all her friends and acquaintances, while making every effort to attend all class reunions over the years. In her younger years she loved playing mah-jongg, and as a teenager would delight in mentioning of being a model of fashionable clothes at G. Fox & Co. in downtown Hartford. She loved attending synagogue, and spending time relaxing at the beach in Charlestown, RI where she had a second home for many years. She also enjoyed dancing, playing occasional rounds of golf, attending local outdoor concerts, and knitting and crocheting – making jumpers, winter head bands and beautiful woollen blankets. For over twenty years Suzanne worked as a hairdresser in West Hartford at Park West beauty salon with her life-long friend Jerry Lundy. Perhaps her biggest life accomplishment was raising her six children. She was not an overly doting grandmother, but very much loved her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents Suzanne was pre-deceased by her former husband Marvin “Babe” Salad, and her step-father George Appleman. She is survived by her son Jeffrey and wife Arta of London England, son Stephen of Greenwich CT, son Kenneth and wife Donna of Coventry CT, son Todd and wife Donna of Simsbury CT, daughter Alison Webber and partner David Orszulak of Enfield CT, and daughter Ronna Voyer and husband David of West Hartford CT. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous other friends and extended family members. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In remembrance of Suzanne, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, FDR Station, PO Box 220 New York, NY 10150.
