Vivian Elkins

ELKINS, Vivian Elkins, of West Hartford, beloved sister of Henrietta M. Gitlin, died peacefully at home on July 2, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Elkins. Born at St. Francis Hospital, Vivian was a lifelong resident of Hartford and West Hartford. She was a graduated of the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Nursing School. After working as a private duty nurse, Vivian enjoyed a successful career as a Senior Secretary for the City of Hartford Department of Education until her retirement. Vivian’s priority was taking care of her family and friends. She often created original artwork for them to show her affection. In addition to her sister, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Joseph A. Gitlin; niece Ronna Woodward and her husband Dana; and niece Dr. Karen Gitlin-Weiner and her husband Dr. Richard Weiner. She was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude and Dr. Deborah Elkins. The family appreciates the wonderful care she was given by the staff of Comfort Keepers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford.
