William Daniel Cutler

d. February 14, 2023

Dr. William “Bill” Daniel Cutler died on February 14, 2023. Bill was 80 years old. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Cara, and sisters Joyce and Mimi. His father Judge Morris J. Cutler died in 1985 and his mother Belle Bercowetz Cutler died in 1999. Bill was born in Bloomfield, CT and he went to elementary and middle schools there. Bloomfield was more rural then - he walked the trolley tracks to school, briefly had a pet lamb, and he fed pigs for his part-time job at Copaco. He went to Loomis for prep school. He graduated with a B.A. in American Civilization from Brown University, received an M.A. in psychology from Wesleyan University (Middletown), and earned a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Connecticut. He settled in Gales Ferry in 1977. He and Mary married in 1978, and they remained in Gales Ferry until 2018, when they moved to Mystic. He was a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice until his retirement. His passion was helping people through talk therapy. Bill walked two miles every single day for over thirty years, beginning in 1989. Bill also enjoyed computers, playing trumpet, studying French and visiting Sturbridge Village. Donations in his honor can be made to Sturbridge Village. A funeral is being held this Friday at 11 AM. Please contact Weinstein Mortuary or the family for additional information.
