Edward Greenberg of Denver, Colorado (formerly of Delray Beach, Florida and West Hartford, CT) passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on July 17, 1930 in the Bronx, New York, and was the youngest child of Emanuel and Sadie Greenberg. He was predeceased by his brother Larry Greenberg.
Ed was also predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Naomi (Gershman). He leaves behind his daughter Linda and her husband Gary Feldman of Denver, CO, daughter Susan and her husband Stew Fisher of Philadelphia, PA, and son Barry Greenberg and his wife Jacki of Weston, CT. He was adored by his grandchildren – Eric and Becca, David, Alex (and his wife Dayna), and Chelsea and Lindsey.
Ed studied Mechanical Engineering at Clarkson University and went on to get his Master’s Degree at Yale University. He began his career in the aerospace industry designing a variety of thermal controls for camera and telescope systems. He was responsible for heat transfer analysis projects for space vehicles, including Apollo. Ed then went on to design and manufacture heaters, heating elements and temperature controls for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. His diversified skills combined with his intellectual curiosity led him for a while to work as an engineering manager in the toy industry, where he built one of the first air hockey sets for family fun.
Ed was well known for his talents in woodworking and handyman skills. He built furniture for their home, personalized stepstools for all the grandchildren, and was quick to offer his help as the community handyman in Florida. He also enjoyed building sets for the many local theatrical productions in which his wife Naomi organized and performed.
Graveside Service will be held at Piaterer Verein Society Cemetery, Tuesday, April 16 at 11:00 am. Address: 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT.
