A. Melvin Laschever passed away on Feb. 8, 2016 at the age of 95. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Laschever, of West Hartford. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Esther Boykan of Springfield, Mass. Melvin is survived by his three children, Diane Salm and her husband Ron Salm, Steven Laschever and his wife Christine Laschever, and Robert Laschever and his wife Tobin Schermerhorn. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Rachel Salm, Andrew Salm and Nicolle Laschever. Melvin was born in Hartford to Max and Yetta Laschever. He graduated from UConn with a degree in engineering. He served in the Army during World War II on Christmas Island. He worked at Kaman and Dynamic Controls along with other engineering companies. His passion was spending time with family and time at the shore. A funeral is scheduled for Feb. 10, 2016 at 12:30 at Weinstein’s Mortuary in Hartford, with a burial ceremony to follow at the Beth Israel cemetery in Avon, CT.
