Adeline Sarah Koppelman Chorches, a lifelong resident of Hartford and West Hartford, passed away peacefully at her home on July 4, 2013. She was predeceased by her loving husband Louis Chorches. She was one of four children of Jacob and Jenny Koppelman, and was predeceased by two sisters, Rosalind Johnson of Flushing, NY and Dorothy Horrvich of Bronxville, NY; and a brother George Koppelman of West Hartford. At the age of 101 she was the matriarch of a large family. She leaves four devoted children, Samuel Chorches of Chester, Dr. Michael Chorches and his wife Anne Lessner Chorches of Atlanta, Ingrid Chorches of West Hartford and Leslie Weinstein and her husband Richard P. Weinstein of West Hartford. She is also survived by eight adoring grandchildren, Jason Chorches, Nicole Chorches Greenblatt, Stacy Chorches Kaplan, Alec Chorches, Evan Gamm, Lyle Gamm, Alexis Weinstein Hersh and Drew Weinstein. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her twenty great-grandchildren. She was a life-long member of The Emanuel Synagogue. She was also a member of Tumblebrook Country Club, board member of the Charter Oak Temple and Life Member of Hadassah. She also provided Life Memberships to all female members of her family, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During the depression she rose to prominence as a business woman by purchasing and operating the Professional Pharmacy on Allyn Street. In later years, she became an integral part of her husband’s automobile business, Chorches Motors, in Manchester. The family would like to acknowledge her wonderful caregivers, Madeleine and Anne Marie, assisted by Pam and Veronica. ?
A private family graveside service is planned for Sunday at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery with Rabbi David Small officiating. The family will receive at the home of Leslie and Richard Weinstein at 52 Norwood Road West Hartford on Sunday and Monday from 6:30-9 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT 06117. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
