Barbara R. Clark, 84, passed away on Thursday, December 19th at St. Mary Home in West Hartford. Barbara was born in Hartford in 1929 to Leah and Meyer Rulnick; she graduated from Weaver High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Hillyer College (now the University of Hartford). Barbara married shortly after graduating from college and spent most the next twenty years raising her three sons; the family moved to West Hartford in 1961; she spent the rest of her life in her much loved home. A divorce in the early 1970’s signalled a great change in Barbara’s life. She began a career in bookkeeping and almost single-handedly supported her sons and kept the family together. She later had a fine career at McGrath-Davis Inc as the office manager, retiring in 1994. Another chapter began in Barbara’s life in 1975 when she met, and later married, George Clark. George was the love of her life and they were married for 35 years; George passed away earlier this year. During their working years, and even more after they retired, Barbara and George travelled the world together, visiting Europe, Africa, China, and Australia. They had a busy social life, enjoyed cultural events such as the Long Wharf Theater and the Hartford Stage, and were very active playing golf, tennis, and kayaking. Barbara leaves her three sons, Michael Levinson of Coventry, Robert Levinson of West Hartford, and James Levinson of Florida. In addition she leaves her two beloved stepchildren, Deborah Clark of Boston and Gregory Clark of Utah. She also leaves behind six grandsons and two granddaughters. At her request, there will be no service or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
