Conrad E. Wertheim of Tamarac, Florida, and (Old Colony Beach) Old Lyme, passed away Wednesday (November 14, 2012). He was born in Hartford, on February 10, 1924, to the late Max and Vera (Vosburg) Wertheim. He was the beloved wife of Frances (Sandler) Wertheim for the past 67 years. He was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 42′ and a Marine veteran of World War II. He was the retired owner of Stone Acres Nursing Home in Springfield, MA. Besides his wife, he leaves behind daughters Pamela and her husband Leonard Grossman of Vernon, Hollis and her husband Wayne Griffin of West Hartford. Besides his daughters, he leaves his loving grandchildren Jonathan and his wife Sabrina Grossman of Groton, and Heath Grossman and his wife Jetaun Dobbs of Simsbury and cherished great-grandchildren Max, Dylan, Nate and Gabriel Grossman.
He was predeceased by a brother Richard Wertheim and leaves his brother Melvin Wertheim of Bloomfield.
Conrad was an avid golfer, a NY Yankee and Miami Heat fan.
Funeral services will be held graveside on Monday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m., with Rabbi Marshal Press officiating, at the Hartford Mutual Cemetery in East Granby. Following interment, the family will receive friends and observe Shiva at the home of Leonard and Pamela Grossman in Vernon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in memory of Conrad may be made to American Diabetes Association, P O Box 1834, Merrifield, VA 22116-8034 or the donor’s choice.
