David

Federman

Obituary

David S. Federman passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 surrounded by his immediate family and loved ones. He was 79 years old. Dave was many things to many people, but he will be remembered primarily as a doting, dutiful and loving husband. His love for Jeanie, his wife of 57 years, was second to none and the stuff of legend. Throughout his life, he was a beacon of support and positivity for all those who knew him, be it his parents and sister, his children, his grandchildren or his nieces. He adored them all and never hesitated to tell them. Dave is survived by his wife, Jean Federman; their son, Eric Federman, Eric’s wife, Amy and their two sons, Jake and Sam; their son, Brian Federman and his daughter, Michalina; his niece, Mindy Jason and her husband, Jeremy; his niece, Kimberly DiBella, her husband, Jason and their son Ben; his sister, Karen Blinderman and her husband, Larry; their daughter, Stacey Fonseca and her husband, David and their daughter, Jocelyn; his brother-in-law, Alan Shuch; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Asip. Dave was a joyful man, a lover of many things in addition to his family and friends, but among his favorites were golf, the New York Yankees, and, of course, accounting. Born in Hartford in July, 1943 to Murray and Ruth Federman, he graduated from Bloomfield High before going to Northeastern for his undergraduate studies. Upon finishing at Northeastern, Dave attended law school at the University of Connecticut, and he went on to pass the Connecticut CPA exam and the bar in the same year. He spent 25 years as a CPA in Hartford before starting his own practice, Federman, Lally and Remis in Farmington in 1991. His unimpeachable moral character and ethical behavior made him an easy choice for accounting work for the firm’s many clients, each of whom came to love and appreciate him for his quick sense of humor and even quicker assessments of tax laws. Throughout his life, Dave made numerous contributions to the Jewish community in Hartford and the community at large. Funeral services will be held at Beth El Temple at 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 11am. Interment will follow at the United Synagogues of Greater Harford Memorial Park at 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Shiva will be observed at the Mandell Jewish Community Center at 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mandell Jewish Community Center Jean and David Federman Fund.

David was the most patience and kind person I ever met. I was so lucky to work for him and his firm. He told great stories and was quick to laugh. We spent alot of time toghether working on a Arts Camp in Connecticut. I learned so much from David on how to approach challenges and offer the clients the best. David always treat his employees and clients like family and they all loved him. The world will miss him.

David & especially his father, Murray, my Agudas Achim religious school teacher for my formative school years, were very intelligent & supportive of Jewish religious education at the Synagogue each & every Sunday. In particular David was always sweet, kind & helpful to all students in our class & I always remembered their caring way of educating our group. May David find eternal peace among our loved ones, lost but never forgotten••••
