Dora ‘Dinny’ (Finkelstein) Toyen, 95, of Delray Beach, FL and Canton, widow of Morris Toyen, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Barnet and Sarah (Rabinowitz) Toyen. Born and raised in New York, she moved to Hartford in 1941 when she married Morris Toyen. Dora’s love for her family was immeasurable and evident in the beautiful knitted sweaters and afghans she made for family members and friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son Barnet, and granddaughter Amy Toyen. She is survived by her son Martin and his wife Dorine; daughter-in-law Suzanne; grandchildren: Heather, Pam and Steven Toyen and Heidi Stevens; great grandchildren: Bryan and David Stevens; several sisters and brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Merchants Protective Association Cemetery, Garden Street, Hartford. A memorial period will be observed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at the home of her son, 39 Rosewood Rd., Avon.
