Dorothy Kernberg Liverant of Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2007. She was born in the Bronx, NY on January 10, 1924 but spent most of her adult life in the Hartford area. She attended Walton High School in New York and at age 17 won a New York High School Art Exhibition Scholastic Award for Academic Achievement in the Creative Arts. Her lifelong love for the visual arts resulted in hobby works in pen & ink, clay and paint throughout her life. Her favorite subjects were women and children, and during her working years, it was not unusual for co-workers to show up in her humorous caricatures. She held clerical and administrative positions at Hamilton Standard, Connecticut General and Charter Oak College. She was a former member of the Wintonbury Art League, Congregation Agudas Achim and the sisterhood of Congregation Agudas Achim, West Hartford. Her family remembers Dorothy as a quiet, kind and sensitive soul with a wonderful sense of humor. She leaves behind her husband of almost 50 years, Abraham Liverant of West Hartford; her son, Robert C. Liverant of Racine, WI; her daughter, Wendy S. Liverant of Alpharetta, GA; her brother, Julius Kernberg of Windsor Locks; her sister, Ruth Fridkis of Edison, NJ; and two granddaughters, Natalie U. Liverant and Stephanie K. Liverant of Schaumburg, IL. Services will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Hebrew Home & Hospital, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford 06117. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM in the Ahavath Achim Cemetery, Colchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Agudas Achim, 1244 North Main St., West Hartford 06117, or Hebrew Health Care, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford 06117.
