Elinor Ruth

((Resnick))

Adams

Obituary

Elinor Ruth (Resnick) Adams, beloved wife of Robert Adams for 54 years, died peacefully on January 2, 2017, at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford. Ellie, as she was known to friends and family, was born February 2, 1938 in Springfield, MA and was a long time resident of West Hartford. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elsie (Lavin) Resnick. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two children; daughter Phyllis Madden and her husband Benjamin of Greenwich, CT, and Howard Adams and his wife Patricia of Sandy Hook, CT, as well as five grandchildren Dylan Madden, Mackenzie Madden, Shea Madden, Sarah Adams, and Jaime Adams. She also leaves a brother, Richard Resnick.

Ellie was a graduate of Classical High School In Springfield and received her undergraduate degree from Simmons College and a Masters In Education from Columbia University. She taught French in Bloomfield and Hartford but left teaching to raise her family. During this time at home Ellie turned a passion for baking into a small confectionery business called Edible Elegance by Ellie. She was well known in the greater Hartford community for her beautiful cakes and candies which featured regularly at bar and bat mitzvahs and weddings and other celebrations. She will not only be remembered by the cakes she baked over the years but also by the love and joy that she baked along with it. She will be missed by everyone’s heart she’s touched.

A private funeral service was held. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, January 4, 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the home of Robert Adams. Memorial donations may be made to Hebrew HealthCare, 1 Abrahms Blvd, West Hartford, CT 06117 (www.hebrewhealthcare.org). Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT. Dear Adams family:

I wish to convey my sincerest condolences to your entire family. Death is never easy. When Lazarus died, Jesus “groaned in the spirit and became troubled,” and shortly afterward he “gave way to tears.” (John 11:33, 35) So, when someone we love dies, it does not show weakness to cry. In the future God promises to wipe out every tear from our eyes, because death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore which is found in the Bible at Revelation 21:4. I hope this brief message will bring you a measure of comfort in this difficult time.

Ellie was a beautiful, elegant and wonderful person. Her disposition was as sweet as her cooking. She made many things for Susan and me as well as for events for our children. Those who befriended her will long remember her sweetness. Her Memory was certainly "For a Blessing!"

I still have flowers in my freezer from my wedding cake that Ellie made for me 41 years ago! Her cakes were as delicious and sweet as she was. She was a joy to work with. May her memory be for a blessing. My condolences to the family.
