Emanuel Posner, 102 years of age, of Farmington, CT, formerly of West Hartford, CT, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Florence (Leff) Posner, his wife of 60 years, predeceased him. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Jacob and Sophie (Fuchs) Posner. He was a graduate of CCNY and St. John’s School of Law. Although a fully trained attorney, he worked in many different jobs throughout his life. He worked in a defense job during WWII and spent most of his working years in business with his parents and brothers in the family-owned jewelry business in NYC. Once retired, he enjoyed volunteer work at a hospital near his home in NJ until moving to West Hartford, CT. He became an accomplished bridge player and gave many volunteer hours teaching bridge at Elmwood Senior Center in West Hartford. He had a great love for learning, was an avid reader, and loved music. For the last 3 years, as a resident of Brookdale of Farmington (The Gables), he had been very active with the residents there. He leaves his son, Dr. Howard Posner and his wife Wendy of Avon, CT; his daughter Barbara Simon and her husband Gordon of Somers, NY; his brother Bernard and his wife Eva of Westbury, NY; his sister, Harriett Brayman, of Floral Park, NY; six grandchildren, Melissa, Evan, Daniel, Kimberly, Andrea and Janice; and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1:15 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT. Interment will be in the New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, NY on Friday, May 13 at 11:00.
