Frederick

Guthart

Obituary

Frederick Guthart of Farmington, beloved husband of the late Diane (Eisenstein) Guthart, passed away on Friday (May 17, 2019). He was born in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Abraham and Alyce Guthart. Fred and his identical twin brother, Leonard, were co-owner’s of Guthart’s Wallpaper and Paint Company, a Hartford landmark for over 70 years which they took over from their parents. In 1998, Fred and Len sold the business to carry on their musical careers. They entertained for many clubs, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. Fred loved anything to do with music. He was an accomplished pianist who could play any song by ear and a fantastic ballroom dancer who never missed an opportunity to do the merengue. The duo were well known in the music community. Fred was also known for his snazzy attire. He loved bright colors, flashy prints, and Burberry. He is survived by his daughter, Neeli Mann and her husband Dr. Douglas Mann of Cherry Hill, NJ; his two grandchildren, Aaron and Addi Mann; his identical twin brother, Leonard Guthart of Newington, CT; as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myra and David Finkelstein of Portland, CT. He also leaves a caring niece, Naomi Saccavino; nephews, Paul and Jamie Finkelstein; cousins, and very special friends. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Mr. Guthart’s family wishes to thank Brookdale Farmington for the care given to Fred and is most thankful to the kind and compassionate care by his long-time caregivers, Althea Cunningham and Claudette Arthurs. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with interment in Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. Following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at Brookdale Farmington, 20 Devonwood Drive, Farmington.

Fred's smile always made me smile. In the 15 years I have known him, he was always a caring, sweet person. We had many good times with him, and I shall miss him very much. Condolences to Lenny, Neeli, Naomi and families.
