Obituary

Frieda Boardman-Reisner, age 94, passed away peaceably on April 2, 2013. Born in Springfield, MA on December 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Mary Horowitz. Her brothers, Joseph and Alfred Horowitz, and a sister Ruthie Sideroff predeceased her. She was married to the late Morton Boardman and later to the late Louis Reisner. She is survived by her son, Larry Boardman and wife, Carol, and daughter, Rhoda Boardman-Winik. She leaves 4 loving grandchildren, Jill Glickman and husband Michael Hill, Marnie Balaski and her husband Darryl, Marc Glickman, and Dr. Adam Boardman and wife Sonia Shah, and 4 great-grandchildren, Rachael and Sara Hill, Jaden Balaski and Mason Glickman. Retired from the Travelers Insurance Co., Frieda was active in the West Hartford Senior Center, and in local politics representing the Senior Citizens point of view. Special thanks go to Lawreen McCann for her friendship and assistance, Dr. Jill Peters-Gee and Staff, and the Staff of 2 North at the Hebrew Home and Hospital. Funeral services will be held on April 4, 2013 at 1 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue in Hartford. Interment will follow at the John Hay Memorial Park in Hartford. After interment, her family will receive friends and relatives at the home of Larry & Carol Boardman, 22 Adams Road, Weatogue, CT until 9PM and then on Friday at the home of Rhoda Boardman-Winik, 120 Short Beach Road, Harbour Village, 4D, Branford, CT. from Noon to 6PM. Donations in her name may be made to The American Cancer Society or the West Hartford Senior Center. Rhoda and Larry--- We are saddened to hear of your mother's passing. I will always remember her friendship with my mom and their raucous mah jong games at our house on Thomaston St. I also fondly remember your dad and his friedship and mentoring of my dad in photography.
