George Blumenfeld,, 94, of New Britain, husband of the late Jane (Sheinman) Blumenfeld, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005. Born in Poland, he was the son of the late Sam and Anna Oliner) Blumenfeld. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. A US Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Jewish War Veterans. He was the owner of Stanley Shoes in New Britain for 50 years before he retired. Mr. Blumenfeld was a member of Temple B’nai Israel of New Britain and vice president of the Temple’s Ritual Committee. He leaves a son, Attorney Louis B. Blumenfeld and his wife Jacqueline Isaacson of Boomfield; two grandchildren: Jeremy D. Blumenfeld and his wife Sarah of Bloomfield, and Matthew A. Blumenfeld of Rockville, MD; and a great grandchild: Shiloah Blumenfeld. He also leaves his step-grandchildren: Andrew, Rebecca and Jennifer Small, all of Bloomfield. He was predeceased by three sisters: Sylvia Krasow, Lillian Kugell and Helen Leibin. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 2:00 PM in Temple B’nai Israel, 265 West Main Street, New Britain with Rabbi Marshal Press officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Alom Cemetery, New Britain. A memorial period will be observed at his home on Thursday following the funeral through Saturday evening, and Sunday and Monday at the home of his son in Bloomfield.
