Harold Jacobs of Simsbury Rd., West Hartford, passed away with family by his side, on Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Born March 6, 1921 in Birmingham England, he served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Harold moved to the United States from England with his family in 1955 where he owned and operated Clothing Care Cleaners for 25 years. Harold was a devoted congregant and an active member of the Teferes Israel Synagogue in Bloomfield for many years and also served as President. He blew the shofar on the high holidays and davened with a melodic voice to the delight of so many. He was also a member of the Beth David Synagogue, the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, and Temple Emeth in Delray Beach Fl. Harold was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Betty for 60 years, father to daughter Sharon and son in law David Edricks, and grandfather to Rachel and Lauren Edricks, whom he adored. He was predeceased by his son David, who tragically passed away at the age of 16, in 1967, and by his sister Irene Hufnagel. Harold also leaves a brother Jeff Jacobs and sister in law Iva Jacobs, as well as nieces Alene Hufnagel and Pat Draznin and cousins in New York, California and England. Harold had many happy years of retirement in Delray Beach FL, with dear friends. Golf became one of his passions, and he also served as a volunteer Para chaplain at Delray Hospital. He was a gentleman, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a kind and helpful person to all who knew him. His care takers, Dawn, Bless and Linda treated him as if he was their own, and his family is forever grateful to these very special people who ensured his grace and dignity through his final years. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford, with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating.
