Obituary

Helen (Socolow) Schneider of West Hartford, formerly of Bronxville, NY, passed away on Monday, July 21st, after a period of declining health. Born in NY, NY. Helen was the daughter of Mildred (Sachs) and Samuel Socolow. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Mortimer L. Schneider, her parents, and twin sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Luddy Brooks. Helen was an executive secretary and an excellent typist. Helen was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She moved to Connecticut so that she could be near her cherished grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. She was an avid UCONN basketball fan, loved the theater and classical music. Helen is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Michael Kaplan; grandsons Marc and wife Betsy of Brooklyn, NY; Steven and wife, Tracey of Brooklyn, NY; and great granddaughter Zoe Beatrice. She also leaves her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hebrew Home for their care and compassion. A graveside service will be at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, NY, on Thursday, July 24th at 11:00AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
