Henrietta ?Chickie? Miller, 82, of Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, surrounded by family members at her hospital bedside, ?Chickie?, as she was fondly called, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Theresa Miller of West Hartford. After graduating from Hall High School in 1944, and after concluding her studies at New York Medical Laboratory School, Chickie joined the Women?s Navy, the Waves, serving in World War II as a Pharmacist?s Mate First Class; and was called back into service during the Korean War. Upon her honorable discharge from the Navy, Chickie served the patients of Newington Veterans? Hospital for 33 years in their Heart Station program. Chickie was a life member of Hadassah, a tireless volunteer worker and supporter of AMC Cancer Research, Denver, CO, Jewish Women International, formerly B?nai Brith, and Jewish War Veterans. A worldwide traveler and friend to many, Chickie leaves behind her sister Shirley M. Pasco and her husband Sam; brother Robert J. Miller and his wife Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 1:30 PM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon, with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Chickie?s family will receive friends at the Pasco home, Mountain Commons, 596-C Mountain Rd., West Hartford on Thursday, following the funeral through Friday afternoon.
