Obituary

Iris (Cohen) Rosenberg, 82 years of age, of Jupiter, FL and West Hartford, CT, died on Monday, December 5, 2016. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. Cohen (Syd Conn) and the late Pauline (Rudolfsky) Cohen. She leaves her husband Donald G. Rosenberg; her children, Alan P. Rosenberg and his wife Barbara of Simsbury, CT, Lisa R. Bial and her husband Bruce of Marblehead, MA and Howard S. Rosenberg and his wife Ellen of Simsbury, CT; and her sisters, Hyla Sklar and her husband Harry of West Hartford, CT and Sheila Levy and her husband Stephen of Bloomfield, CT, and a brother; her nine grandchildren who she loved more than anything – Emily and Molly Rosenberg, Bing, Peri, Brett and Tyler Bial, Zachary, Jake and Sophie Rosenberg and numerous adored nieces and nephews. She was a longtime nursery school teacher at Emanuel Synagogue and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to travel with her family, and especially her husband, with whom she celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary on the day she passed away. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in the Sanctuary of the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford, CT with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 96 Wolcott Road, East Granby, CT. Following the Interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Avenue, West Hartford. Shiva will continue at the home of Alan and Barbara Rosenberg on Thursday 6:00-9:00 and on Friday 12:00-3:00. Shiva will continue at the home of Howard and Ellen Rosenberg on Saturday 6:00-9:00 and Sunday from 12:00-3:00 and 6:00-9:00. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the ICU, 11th floor (Bliss) at Hartford Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hartford Public Library, Emanuel Synagogue or to a charity of the donor’s choice .
