Irving was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He smiled every time their names were mentioned..We spent many holidays at the Meltzer home.. He would joke around and say how happy he was to have us in his home since it was the only time he had such a wonderful meal. His love for Israel, and his many accomplishments on behalf of the Jewish people will always be remembered. To us and many of his friends ,Irving was a hero. He was blessed to have a loving and devoted wife who took wonderful care oh him. When we think of Irving, we will try to focus on the happy and memorable times in his life..We will miss him.

Irving was a remarkable man and we were honored to count him among our special circle of friends. We shared so many important holidays in the home he and Iris created. We loved sharing conversations, respectful of differing opinions. He was a true hero who saved many survivor's lives, helping them reach Israel's shores. He was honored by the government of Israel for that service, rightfully. I loved his chuckle, his warmth, his zest for life. And finally, when he had reached its conclusion, he left with grace and dignity

We shared so many important holidays together, both Jewish and sectarian. We danced at diner dances, we shared opinions, many times differing, but always respectful on national & global issues. We shared love of Israel. He was a true hero who had no false modisty. We were joyful to learn that Israel had recognized his heroism in helping survivors arrive at its shores. He was a dear friend and will be missed. We know he lived a full and wonderful life and was content at its completion. That resolution is something to model our own journey.
