ETELIS, Jack Norman Etelis, 90, of West Hartford, CT, passed away on Saturday August 30, 2008, surrounded by family. He was born in Hartford, son of the late David and Jenny ( Bonderow) Etelis. After graduating from Weaver High School, he went on to graduate from the Connecticut College of Pharmacy in 1940, which is now part of the University of Connecticut. He was the owner of Prince Pharmacy in Elmwood for many years. He then went on to be a hospital pharmacist at the Institute of Living. He also worked in the Methadone Clinic for the City of Hartford. Jack was an avid bowler and throughout the years won many awards for his accomplishments. He was a passionate bridge player and truly loved the game. Jack was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. He was married to the love of his life, Leatrice Hoffman Etelis, for 59 years. Upon their retirement, they traveled extensively abroad and in the United States. For the past 21 years, they spent their winters together in Delray Beach, FL. Besides his wife Leatrice, he is survived by his daughters Judith Etelis Farber and her husband Michael, and Robyn Etelis Weller and her husband Harry. He leaves 5 grandchildren and one great grandson: Joshua and his wife Kimberly and their son Ethan, Stacy Farber, Sarah Weller and Elayna Weller. His family will miss his guidance and love. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sadie, Mollie, Minnie, Rebecca and Dorothy and his daughter and son-in-law, Francine and Carlton Silver. Together, Jack and Leatrice donated to many charities. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 1, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi David J. Small and Cantor Sanford Cohen officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. The family will be observing Shiva at 107 Brewster Road in West Hartford, Monday through Thursday from 1-4pm and 7-9pm and Friday from 1-4pm. The family will get up from Shiva Sunday morning.
