I remember how gracious Jack was when I visited UCONN in 1952 to complete a project I was working on. I remember how prejudice kept him from dental schools he wanted. I remember the beach house, the weddings, Marty's drumming and Jack fixing my cavities. I remember how much Jack and Phyllis ment to my mother and how they visited her whenever they visited Mildred. I remember Jack's cooking and how much pride he had in putting out a spread. He was a good person.

I was Dr. Opinsky's patient for over 40 years, moving with him from downtown Hartford to West Hartford. He made my trips to the dentist a pleasant expeerience regardless of the procedure. I shall find it difficult to replace his gentle nature.

With my sincere sympathy to all.

Dr. Opinsky's compassion, warmth and gentle touch was so welcomed by students and their families when he applied his dentistry skills at the Dominic Burns school. His presence made a positive difference in so many lives.

I remember Jack with love and honor. My mother was in the hospital in 1975, and lost her partial plate in her bed. Jack went all the way to New Britain to fit her with a new plate while she was in bed. Unheard of by any other dentist. Jack - may you find comfort with God.

Jack was a loving father and grandfather. When Jack came to see the kids he used to place them on his stomach and sing to them until they fell asleep, one of his favorite songs was "The Yellow Rose of Texas" I have very fond memories of Jack that i will forever cherish in my heart. May his soul rest in perpetual peace.

I simply cannot imagine a town committee meeting without him. Jack's decency, commitment, determination and kindness were ever present, in politics where those qualities are increasingly rare, and throughout every aspect his life. My condolences to Phyllis, Heidi and the entire family. Please know that he will be remembered with great fondness, and missed greatly, by everyone who has had the good fortune to have known him, and work along side him, through the years.

Phyllis was our son Jonathan's first school nurse, and through her we met Jack. Their innate goodness was as evident as was their passion for the causes that could better the lives of those most in need.
Jack's heart bled but he was not a bleeding heart. He was a sophisticated savvy proponent of the political system and in JFK's words "a pragmatic idealist." who made partisan activism a proud calling.
Jack & Phyllis always asked about Jonathan's progress and in later years they were huge and valued supporters of our son Scott.
Naturally, as parents Janeace and I will be always grateful for Jack and Phyllis's impact on our children, and grateful for having their friendship.
Jack, it is a shock that suddenly you are not with us, but your life is timeless, living on in the memories of all of us privileged to have known you.

I am greatly saddened by the passing of my friend Jack Opinsky. He was a true leader in the dental profession and in the Democratic Party.
It was in politics that I got to know and admire Jack. He stood by me when others did not. That's the measure of a true friend.Shalom,Jack.

I know Dr. Jack has three wonderful children that he loved dearly. I was lucky enough to have worked for him for over 35 years and was always treated by both him and Phyllis like another member of their family! Both my husband, myself, and my children loved him so much. I'll miss him tremendously and never forget his many kindnesses to me and my family. He was always more like a father to me than an employer. Rest in peace Dr. Jack.

Phyllis and Jack met us way back in 1957, when we both opened our offices as dental professionals. It was love at first sight and has not changed since. We shared many ups and downs throughout our careers and felt the same way about our beloved profession. Jack was always humorous, smiling, a glad-hander whom you could trust in every way to do what he said he would do, and a friend who was like family in so many ways.

There is so much more to say about this remarkable person, but, suffice it to say, his memories will shine for his family and friends, and be like a beacon to us all. May his memory be for a blessing!
