Obituary

Jay Scott Schoolnick, 47 lost his valiant fight with colon cancer on Sunday, November 17, 2013. He was the loving son of Linda Rosenberg of Charlotte, NC, devoted brother of Gerald Schoolnick & his wife Michelle of Canton, CT & uncle to Allison Schoolnick & PFC David Schoolnick USMC both of Stafford, CT. He also leaves many cousins & close friends. Jay was predeceased by his father, Leonard Schoolnick. A graduate of Hartt School of Music, Jay was well known in the CT theater circuit, getting his start at the Hartford Jewish Community Center & appearing in in many venues across the state. Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 21st at 11AM at the Beth Hillel Cemetary on Wolcott Rd. in East Granby, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jay S. Schoolnick Musical Theater Fund at the Hartford Jewish Community Center.

I will always remember the good times that I had with Jay in high school. A special memory is when we played opposite each other at the JCC's production of Bye Bye Birdie as Mr. and Mrs. MacAfee.

Jay was a great guy. He always had a smile and a kind word. You could always count on him to show up with his guitar. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those who will miss him most.
