Jerome Goldfield of West Hartford went to his rest on December 13, 2010 at the age of 86. He was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Hartford, the son of Benjamin and Anna Weinstock Goldfield. He was a highly decorated US Army war veteran having received the Bronze Star three times, Purple Heart, and numerous campaign ribbons during his service in World War II. He was especially proud of his military service. He retired from the US Postal Service at the age of 80 having served over 20 years. He leaves behind his daughter Fern Darling and her husband William of Ashford, and sons David Goldfield and his wife Joan of Leesburg, VA; and Steven Marc Goldfield of West Hartford; five grandchildren; and a great grandson. He also leaves his beloved sister-in-law Marilyn Weiss of Clearwater, FL and cousin Esther Shafer of New Jersey, as well as extended family members. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Felicia Shafer Goldfield and loving son Michael. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (December 15, 2010) at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Howard Herman officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery in East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at the family home Wednesday through Friday.
