Judy (Pennachio) Block, 65, of Vernon, wife (38 years) of Harold Block, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 surrounded by her greatest love – her family. Daughter of Charles and Marie (Dellaquila) Pennachio, Judy grew up in Enfield in a large, loud, loving Italian family. Judy taught in the Enfield school system and most recently as a reading teacher at Northeast School in Vernon. She took great pride in teaching and making a difference in her students’ lives. Judy found continuous joy in soap operas, Scrabble and making sure her children were always well fed. Her children always knew “Weathermom” would keep them safe from the elements and they never failed to call her on their way home from work, each and every day. Judy is survived by her husband Harold, her daughter Marah Block of Manchester, son David Block and his fiancée Amanda Salisburg of Framingham, MA, sister Joann Smith of Windsor, and two loyal granddogs. Judy’s family thanks her many caregivers. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16 at 2:30pm, at Congregation B’nai Israel cemetery on Edith Road in Vernon. Shiva will be observed at the family residence Monday-Wednesday until 9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice .
