Jurgen Kaunitz, 83, died peacefully on August 15, 2007. Born in Germany in 1923, he migrated to the United States in 1939. After serving in the U.S. Army as an interpreter during World War II, he built a career in the women?s garment industry, eventually owning and managing his own factory. Later in life, he worked for several years for Aero All-Gas in Hartford, CT. A gentle, loving man with a sharp mind and keen sense of humor, Jurgen (Joe), met and married the love of his life, Ursula, to whom he was happily married for more than 40 years. Joe will be missed by his son, Franklin Kaunitz of Charlotte, NC, and his wife, Hannah and their children, Galit, Emmanuel and Gabriel. Joe will also be missed by his daughter, Debbie Huntington, of Hebron, and her husband, Bob, and children, Katie, Abby and Rob, and great- granddaughter, Rebekah. Funeral services for Joe will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary , 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Andrew Hechtman officiating. Interment will follow in the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Cemetery, Avon.
