Something just made me read Karen Sue's obituary. I'm glad that I did. It was written with such heartfelt feelings. Although I never met her, I got a small glimpse of how much she affected others and made a real contribution to humanity. Please accept my sincere condolences.

As a fellow colleague of Karen's at Carmen Arace Middle School, her down to earth presence, helpful nature and great humor is greatly missed. It takes a special person to be a teacher, it takes an even more giving and selfless soul to be a special ed teacher. May the Lord give your family strength and comfort during this most difficult time.

Karen and I worked together at Carmen Arace Intermediate School. Not only do I respect her as a Special Educator, but I also saw her as a person who could always make me laugh. She was a good listener and was always someone that I could rely on when it came to lending a helping hand and/or giving great advice. She helped me become a better Special Education teacher, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Karen was one of the first people I met at Bloomfield 8 1/2 years ago. From the moment I met her, I knew I liked her. Karen was a woman with a heart of gold and a great sense of humor. She loved her students. I am grateful that I had the opportunity not only to witness her generous spirit as a teacher but also as her friend. I wish her and her family peace. I miss her already!

About 8 years ago I started working with Karen at Carmen Arace. I enjoyed talking with her and learning from my rookie mistakes as a teacher. She helped me through all the tough times and always found a way to make me smile. About three weeks ago, my family and I were invited to a lovely get together in honor of Karen and she held my daughter for the first time. I feel, at that moment i returned a smile or two to her. May you be at peace now, and you will always be remembered in my heart.

I met Ms.Abrams as a freshman of high school years. She was my mentor while i worked with her class at Carmen Arace. I was new to her class and I was nervous but she made me feel welcomed. When I wasn't have a good day; she would give me advice. I use to call her my second mother. She taught me so much that I can take on to the Real World. She was my best mentor ever. From her warm hugs to her graceful smile, Ms.Abrams was a angel. She cared for others and others cared for her. I will miss her; Even though I wasn't able to attend the funeral I will always keep her in my heart and in my spirits. I love you Ms.Abrams.~Keyonna Perez

Karen, it was almost 2 years ago when I saw you at Ocean State Job Lot and learned of your cancer. You told me you had beat it and felt great. In November I saw your son Matthew at Barnes & Noble and he had told me you were not well. I called the cell phone number which he had given to me, only to get your voice mail. I wanted so badly to talk to you and was hoping you would return my call. Our sons grew up together and we shared good times at our boys birthday parties and baseball games. I will cherish the photo of you at my house during Alex's pirate birthday party. You were taken from us much to soon. May you rest in peace as you are in God's care, looking down from above, watching your handsome son's become great men.
