Karla Ruth Greenhut, 48, of Whitman Ave., West Hartford, died Friday, October 20, 2006 at home. Born in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Anne (Solomon) Greenhut. A graduate of Classical High School, Springfield, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1980. A former owner of Fresser’s Deli in Hartford, Karla was employed in the food industry for many years, most recently as Director of the School Lunch Program at the Solomon Schechter Day School in West Hartford. She was a member of Beth El Temple, West Hartford. She leaves her children: Sam Greenhut Snyder, and Max Greenhut Snyder both of West Hartford; step-children: Todd Snyder and his wife Elaina of Glastonbury, Mandy Cassano, her husband Jay Cassano and their children: Jake and Sophie, all of West Simsbury; brothers: Arnold Greenhut and his wife Adele Miller of Longmeadow, MA; Harvey Greenhut of Palm Springs, CA; her beloved nieces; and countless friends whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 174 Whitman Ave., West Hartford, following the funeral through Tuesday evening.
