Katharine

(Isenberg)

Lavitt

Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the loss of our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Katharine Isenberg Lavitt. She died peacefully at home surrounded by those who loved her at the age of ninety on September 23, 2017. A lifelong resident of Hartford, she was the beloved daughter of Henry & Rosalind (Ball) Isenberg. She was elected the first female president to the board of Congregation Beth Israel in 1976, where four generations of her family belonged. She later served as the administrator at Beth Israel for ten years. Kay also enjoyed volunteering at Hartford Hospital. Kay’s boundless energy, compassionate nature and zest for life were an inspiration to her family and all of those that knew her. Her most cherished times were those spent with her family and friends. She was the devoted mother to Carol (Buz) Kohn and Alice (Bob) Naboicheck. A loving grandmother to Ben (Marti) Kohn, Elizabeth Kohn, Candice (Michael) Dolce, Henry “Skip” (Jen) Naboicheck, Alex (Estelle) Naboicheck and a proud great grandmother to August, Marlowe and Lucas. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Dr. Phillip Isenberg, and leaves her sister-in-law Alice J. Isenberg. The family is most grateful to her loving and compassionate caregivers, Betty, Jane, Jovia, Cynthia and Hajara. The family grave-side service was private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary. Donations in her memory can be made to Hartford Hospital or Congregation Beth Israel.

Carol and Alice,

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your mom. She was a first class lady, so elegant and community minded. Always friendly and welcoming. I know she spoke often of how proud she was of her "girls," and the exceptional care and love you both provided for her throughout her lifetime. May her memory be for a blessing.

It is so sad to learn of your dear mother's passing !
We had had so much fun at the last two recent family reunions in Boston ! We have a only a small family, but we were very close at our little reunions.
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time ! My mother lived to be 98, and your mother was 90. We have to be grateful for their long lives ! Fondly, Annette and Ed
