L. LeRoy

Wasserzug

Obituary

L. LeRoy Wasserzug, loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend died Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was 86. LeRoy was born in Mount Vernon, NY and grew up in the Bronx. He graduated early from DeWitt Clinton High School to enlist in the Army in World War II. After the war, LeRoy graduated from Hunter College, where he met his future wife, Isabel. He was married to his beloved Isabel for 53 years until she died in 2004. LeRoy had a quick wit and an always gentle sense of humor. He had a lifelong, insatiable thirst for learning, along with a love of books and reading. Even though he grew up in the city, LeRoy became an avid and accomplished gardener, providing Isabel with an abundance of flowers for arrangements in their home. LeRoy was very present in the lives of his grandchildren and had a strong bond with them. They shared many great adventures. They could do no wrong in his eyes and brought him much joy. LeRoy is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law: Cathie and George Geary of Rocky Hill, Jane and Larry DiSciacca of West Simsbury, and Heidi and Frank Lane of Wethersfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca DiSciacca and Kevin Johnson of Hartford, Jack DiSciacca and Renee Sher of Redwood City, CA. LeRoy also leaves many dear and loyal friends. Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m. at Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom, 55 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury with interment at the FVJC-Emek Shalom Cemetery, Avon. Afterward, there will be a gathering of family and friends at 10 Huckleberry Lane, West Simsbury. I drove LeRoy to and from his doctor appointments for the past two years. He was always cheerful and a pleasure to have his company. I offer my condolences to his family that he spoke about with great joy and affection.

We are so sorry to hear about Leroy's passing. He was such a wonderful guy, we looked forward to seeing him at McLean when visiting Grandma Jeanne. He always cared so much about our lives, and we loved hearing about his life.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers,
Love Brian and Stephanie

I was truly saddened to read of Leroy's death today. I just saw him last week and we had a nice chat in the gift shop at McLean.
I've known him for quite a few years and will miss seeing him wander by the reception desk where I work at times. We could always have a few laughs and happy moments. He will be missed and I extend my sympathy to his daughters and their families and all who knew him.

I worked with LeRoy at Travelers. He was my supervisor at one point in time in the 80's. He was a gentleman at all times and fun to work with.

Worked for LeRoy at TIC not once, but twice. Never worked for a greater guy. When We weren't discussing business, We covered the world of the arts (maybe too much). Anyway, He'll surely be missed. RonZ
