Marlene Gail (Ganezer) Passman of West Hartford, CT passed away suddenly on Monday, May 23, 2023. She was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly fifty years, Dr. Bernard Passman.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut she was the daughter of the late Morris and Faye Ganezer.
Mrs. Passman obtained her B.A. in English at the University of Connecticut. Following college, she worked as an interior designer in a prominent firm in New York City.
She and Dr. Passman married in 1961, and were the highest example of true love. Together, they shared a wonderful life filled with travel, music, theater, the arts and family. Her family was her pride and joy, often dominating the topic of conversation, and she would always revel in the countless memories and special events she would spend with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Passman was an active member of Temple Beth El in West Hartford. She served on numerous committees at the Wadsworth Atheneum and Decorative Arts Council, and was an active supporter of the Bushnell Theater, Theaterworks, and other local arts organizations. She was always passionate about all things art and design, whether it be in her community, in her career, in her home, or in her impeccable sense of personal style.
Mrs. Passman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Marc Passman and Cora (Best) Passman of Birmingham, Alabama; by a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Passman) Parven and Andrew Parven of Natick, MA, and by five grandchildren, Corinne, Isabelle and Emerson Passman, and William and Jane Parven.
She is also survived by her beloved brother, Bruce Ganezer of Gilford, NH, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mrs. Passman’s memory may be made to the Rabbi’s discretionary fund at Beth El Temple in West Hartford or to the Wadsworth Atheneum.
A private gravesite service will be held on Thursday, May 25 at Beth El Cemetery in Avon, CT.
