Marshall Cohn of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Marshall was predeceased by his wife of 39 years Eileen (Smith) Cohn. He was the son of the late Rubin and Lillian (Kamins) Cohn. Marshall was born and raised in Middletown, CT. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. A graduate of the Morse School of Business, Marshall was employed by Mott’s Supermarkets for many years. After his retirement from Mott’s Supermarkets, Marshall worked part time for several years at Metro Realty. He was very active in his synagogue, Temple B’nai Israel, New Britain, Ct, including serving for many years as synagogue president and treasurer. Marshall was also very active in the Beth Alom Cemetery Association of New Britain, CT. After Temple B’nai Israel closed, he became a member of the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, CT. He was active in the Emanuel Brotherhood and the ritual committee. Marshall is survived by his son Samuel Cohn and his wife Susan and his daughter, Gail Rappaport. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, David Rappaport. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua Cohn, Sarah Cohn, Michelle (Justin) Cleaver and Elaina Rappaport and his great-granddaughter, Melanie Cleaver. In addition to immediate family, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Carmen DaCosta, his caregiver, who provided loving, compassionate care during his last week. The funeral will be at the Emanuel Synagogue, West Hartford, CT on Tuesday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Interment service will follow at Beth Alom Cemetery, New Britain, CT. A meal of consolation will follow at the Emanuel Synagogue. The family will observe shiva at the Emanuel Synagogue following the meal of consolation and on Friday, June 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Emanuel Synagogue or a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary.
