Michael Needle, age 88, passed away in the early on February 25, 2024. In his own words, he was lucky in life. Born, April 25, 1935, to Yiddish speaking parents in Boropark, Brooklyn. Mike spent childhood summers on his uncle’s chicken farm which, ultimately, led him to pursue a degree in agriculture, leave New York, and raise his family in Connecticut. He graduated from the University of Georgia and became a lifelong Bulldogs fan. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the Jewish War Veterans. He married the love of his life, Joan Needle, “a terrific girl from Crown Heights.” Together, they traveled, enjoyed each day, and raised their children, Betsy and Howard, with love and devotion. Mike predeceased his wife just one day before their 63rd wedding anniversary. “Zadie” to his grandchildren, Benjamin and Channah. He shared with them and all who knew him his love for life. “I had such a wonderful time here.” Mike’s bonds to his friends, community, the Chabad, and the Wolvovsky Family of Glastonbury were unwavering. His funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 27, at Adath Israel Synagogue followed by burial at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT. On Sunday (3/4), visitation will be held at 2:00pm with a minyan at 3:00pm at Hoffman Summerwood, 160 Simsbury Rd., West Hartford, CT.
