Merrill J. Finesilver, 91, formerly of West Hartford, husband of the late Bernice (Kammerman) Finesilver, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late William and Pauline (Cohn) Finesilver. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1931 and the Hartford Art School in 1933. A talented artist, he worked for several years as a commercial artist in Washington, D.C. He entered the photographic business in the 1940s, and for many years was owner of Merrill’s Camera Exchange in downtown Hartford until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford. He leaves a son, Dr. Alan G. Finesilver and his wife Cindy of Green Bay, WI, and two grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Finesilver. His family wishes to thank Carolyn Levine, his conservator for the past four years, as well as Ellen Schaan and Cathy Worthington of CT VNA Hospice, and the staff of Kimberly Hall Nursing Home for their care and compassion. A graveside funeral service will be held TODAY, Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Affleck St., Hartford.
