HALPERT, Mildred (Singer) Halpert, 79, of 1 Abrahms Drive, West Hartford, widow of Isaac Halpert passed away on Wednesday, December 24 at Hebrew Health Care. She showed great strength up until the end. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother her entire life. She was born in Hartford, daughter of Samuel and Betty (Gordon) Singer on July 9, 1929. Mildred loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who brought a smile to her face every time she saw them. Prior to becoming ill, she was an active member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield and the former Beth Shalom Synagogue. Mildred is survived by her son, Frank Halpert and his wife, Karen of Newington, her daughter, Linda Howell and her husband, Ken of South Windsor, a daughter-in-law, Claire Gagnon of Bristol, and her son Steven Halpert and his wife Terry of Bristol, grandchildren Amie O?Brien and her husband Eric, Jeffrey and Joseph Howell, Michael and Ashley Halpert, Jason Halpert, and Michelle Strayer and her husband Ken. Her family is extremely grateful for the kind and loving care she received while in the Hospital unit of the Hebrew Health Care facility as well as the support she received from Hospice. A special heartfelt thanks to Joy Brown, Nedra Williams, and Jackie Plourde who spent many days and nights caring for Mildred and Isaac over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Gary Atkins officiating. Interment will follow at Beth Hillel Cemetery in East Granby. Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter Linda Howell, 66 Beechwood Lane, South Windsor, Sunday through Monday evening.
