Millicent Gene Karp Gordon Hart, 83, died on September 9, 2008, peacefully in her sleep at Avery Heights, Hartford. She was formerly of Bloomfield. Born March 28, 1925 in Norwich, she was the eldest child of Lena and Morris Karp. Her husband, Jack Hart, died in 1999. She is survived by her sons David K. Gordon of Burlington, and Brian S. Gordon and his wife Jacqueline Murphy of Branford; grandchildren: Jeffrey Gordon of Florida, and Sarissa Michaud of Indiana; sisters: Phyllis Bronstein of Pennsylvania, and Judith Grossman of Massachusetts; brothers: Burton Karp of Chester, and Joel Karp of Maine; and her first husband Newton Gordon of Florida. Gene was an active member of the Bloomfield Democratic Town Committee, ORT Organization, Jewish War Veterans, and the Beth Hillel Sisterhood. She was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield and Beth Israel Synagogue in West Hartford. She worked for the Aetna Company until her retirement. She liked doing all types of crafts and artwork, giving her projects to family and friends. She enjoyed socializing with friends, shopping, and going to the theater and out to dinner. A memorial service will take place at Elizabeth Park Rose Garden in West Hartford at 10:30 AM on Sunday, September 21, 2008, with a reception at Avery Heights, 705 New Britain Ave., Hartford to follow. In case of rain, memorial service will be at Avery Heights at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
