Morris “Moe” Silver, departed this life on Wednesday (December 24, 2008). He was the husband of the late Rose (Goldfarb) Silver. Moe was born in Hartford, December 28, 1916 to the late Hyman and Fannie (Pearl) Silver. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, where he excelled on the basketball team. Moe entered the Army in 1942, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. He served with the 499th Armored Field Artillery Battalion in combat throughout Europe; and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Metals. He leaves his children, Barry J. Silver & Cynthia Hoffman of Newington, Carl D. Silver of Bloomfield, John B. Silver of San Clemente, CA, and Tim & Cheryl Silver of South Windsor; his grandchildren, Eric Silver, Jaime & Kristen Silver, Jason & Dawn Silver, Rachel Singer, Daniel Silver, Adam Silver, Ashley Erickson, Kimberly Silver and Kelsey Silver; and his great-grandchildren, Riley, Cameron and Cooper; his sisters, Frances Dubrow of West Hartford, and Constance Apter of Maryland; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Benjamin S. & Dorothy F. Goldfarb. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Silver. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, with Rabbi David Small and Cantor Sanford Cohn officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
